Remodeling of the mitochondrial outer membrane during the cell division cycle
Our laboratory is interested in how cells coordinate metabolism, growth, and cell division. During the yeast cell division cycle, we have observed changes in mitochondrial metabolism. The mitochondrial outer membrane is a gate keeper of mitochondrial metabolism and morphology, and thus likely plays an important role to coordinate mitochondrial activity with cell cycle progression. In this project, we will therefore investigate how budding yeast cells remodel their mitochondrial outer membrane proteome during the cell division cycle, and how this contributes to cell cycle phase specific metabolism.
